Summary: Applications to become an Author are currently closed. From late February 2026, we will reopen applications for some content types.
We’ve currently paused new author applications and sign-ups while we improve our intake process.
This means we’re not accepting applications for Envato Elements, and new Envato Market author accounts cannot be created at this time.
When new author intake reopens, it will follow an application-only model. This will be focused on selected content types, based on customer demand and platform strategy. Selective applications are expected to reopen late February 2026.
This article explains what’s changing, which content categories will be supported when applications reopen, and what you can do in the meantime.
Why are author applications paused?
We’re improving how we review applications, refining our onboarding experience, and strengthening our overall category strategy across Envato Elements and Envato Market.
Pausing applications while we redesign, helps ensure that when authors are selected for intake, we can support them with:
- Clearer expectations
- Better category alignment
- Stronger opportunities for success
What’s changing when applications reopen?
From late February 2026, new authors will be able to apply via our selective intake model.
We’ll no longer be accepting applications across all content types, focusing instead on a defined set of categories where customer demand is highest and where we can best support author success.
At launch, applications will be open for the following content types:
- Video (including Video Templates, Stock Footage, and Motion Graphics)
- Animated Graphics
- 3D
We’re also planning to open Fonts later in 2026.
Supported categories may change over time as subscriber needs and library requirements evolve. Any updates will be communicated through our Help Center.
Video authors
The Video category is for creators working with moving-image content designed for professional use across digital projects.
This includes the following content types:
- Video Templates: Editable project files designed for use in professional video software, such as Adobe applications, Apple Motion, Cinema 4D, Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. These items allow customers to customize elements like text, colour, timing, and layout for their own projects.
- Stock Footage: High-quality, professionally shot live-action video clips, typically ranging from short, reusable shots to longer sequences suitable for editorial, commercial, or creative use.
- Motion Graphics: Computer-generated video content and animations designed to create the illusion of motion, including abstract visuals, animated elements, and composited scenes used across digital media.
Video content may be available on both Envato Elements and Envato Market.
Further details about requirements, platform availability, and submission options will be provided when applications reopen.
Animated Graphics authors
This category is for authors creating animation-led assets — lightweight, ready-to-use motion design elements such as animated icons, text, logos, transitions, and backgrounds.
Assets are typically delivered in formats like Lottie JSON, MP4, GIF, and SVG, and are designed to be scalable, reusable, and easy to integrate into digital products and interfaces.
Availability: Envato Elements only
3D authors
This category includes creators producing 3D models, scenes, textures, materials, and other 3D-ready assets.
Availability: Envato Elements only.
What can I do while applications are closed?
While applications are paused, you can:
- Explore the Author Hub to understand category trends and customer demand
- Continue building and refining your best work
- Prepare items that demonstrate originality, technical quality, and strong commercial relevance
Being ready ahead of time will help when applications reopen.
When will applications reopen?
Applications are expected to reopen in late February 2026. At that time, the updated author application form will be available, along with guidance on eligible categories and submission requirements.
After reopening, applications will be reviewed on a quarterly basis, rather than on a rolling basis.
FAQs
-
When will Author applications reopen?
Author applications are expected to reopen in late February 2026. When they do, applications will be reviewed selectively by content type rather than through an open intake model.
-
Why is Envato moving to a selective application model?
A selective model allows us to focus on content types where demand is strongest and where we can best support author success. It also helps set clearer expectations for new authors from the start.
-
I submitted an application before applications closed — what happens now?
If you submitted an application before the close date, you should receive a response by 31 January, 2026, confirming whether your application was approved or declined. Approved applicants will receive onboarding emails shortly after confirmation.
-
Will all content categories be open when applications return?
No. Only selected content categories will be supported when applications reopen. Requirements will vary by category, including platform availability and submission methods. These details will be shared when applications reopen.
-
What categories won’t be reopening?
At this stage, we don’t plan to reopen inbound applications for Theme, Code, Photo, Audio, or Graphics categories (with the exception of Animated Graphics and Fonts, which will open later in 2026). However, this is subject to change based on subscriber demand and content priorities.
-
If my content type isn’t included in the selected intake, does that mean my category is being phased out?
No. Not being part of the current intake doesn’t mean your category is being phased out or removed. We’ll continue to support and work with our existing pool of authors in those categories. In some cases, we may also invite authors to join specific categories through targeted, outbound invitations.
-
Will you notify me when the new intake model reopens?
No. We won’t be sending individual notifications when applications reopen. We recommend checking our application and sign up pages from late February 2026 for the latest updates and application availability.
-
Can I create an account now and upload content later?
No, during the application pause, you cannot create a new Envato author account.
-
I’m a Graphics author and want to upload LUTs. What should I do?
LUTs sit within the Video category. To upload LUTs, you’ll need to apply as a Video author when applications reopen.
-
Can existing authors apply to join another category during the pause?
No. While applications are paused, existing authors can’t apply to join additional content types or categories. Applications for new categories will reopen alongside new author applications in late February 2026.
-
Will you be accepting AI-generated content in the future?
Not at this time. We’re not currently accepting applications for AI-generated content. Any future changes to this approach will be communicated clearly through official Envato channels.
