1. Create an Envato Account
There are a number of different ways authors can sell on Envato including Envato Market, Envato Elements and Placeit. Here, you can also contribute a variety of products across Code Scripts, Video, Music & Audio, Website Themes, Design Assets, Stock Photos and 3D Models (content types).
Before you can upload any items, you’ll need to sign up and create an Envato account on Envato Market. You’ll use this account to upload your items and manage your portfolio going forwards.
Once you’ve signed up as an author, you are dropped into the dashboard of your chosen marketplace, such as:
ThemeForest for Web Themes & Templates
AudioJungle for Audio & Music (temporarily not accepting new authors - see below)
VideoHive for Video Templates & Stock Video
PhotoDune for Stock Photos
GraphicRiver for Graphic Fonts, Logos, Icons, Templates and more
CodeCanyon for Code Script Items
3DOcean for 3D Print Models and CG Textures
Start by setting up your user page by uploading a display picture and some details about yourself or your company in the user profile page. This will help customers and authors to get to know who you are the sort of work that you create. You can check out some examples of great Author Profiles by exploring some of our top Elite Authors like ThemeFusion, Pressmaster and Premiumilk.
If you get lost at any point along the way, try reviewing our Author Glossary. This will help to define and explain some of the terms and concepts that are unique to Envato and our platforms.
If you are specialized in Audio & Music, we are temporarily not accepting new authors. To express your interest for future opportunities, please complete the author sign-up process as normal here. Your new account will be considered an expression of interest for selling on AudioJungle, and we’ll contact you once the new process is open.
If you would like to sell Stock Photography, you’ll need to be approved to sell on Envato Elements, as well as Photodune. You can apply to sell on Envato Elements by filling out this quick application form.

4. Envato Elements Selection Criteria
To create a high-quality library for customers (or subscribers in this case) and ensure that you, our authors, best prepare for success on the platform, we have created specific quality expectations based on what we know customers are looking for and what we know sells well on Envato Elements. This includes:
- Consistent Quality: Authors must have an exceptional level of quality across their entire portfolio displaying a very high level of skill. If there's a mixture of quality in a portfolio then we evaluate on a case by case basis, focusing on recent work.
- Keeping it Fresh: Authors should be actively creating and uploading new work.
Exceptional item presentation, branding and description of items: Products must be accurately represented, with beautiful preview images and collateral. Item titles, previews & descriptions must be clear and compelling. - Style: Items must have a premium quality presentation, be relevant to our audience and be useful, on-trend, modern & clean.
- Proven track record: We require a highly rated portfolio, good customer feedback and a history of playing fair on Envato Market or other similar platforms.
Nice to have:
- Authors should have a solid portfolio (a minimum of 10 to 20 items preferred).
- Portfolios should display a range of item types.
- Items should display unique qualities that set them apart.
Must not have:
- Any intellectual property or copyright issues.
- Significant and notable negative feedback from customers.

5. Joining Placeit
As an Elements author, your items will also be considered for Placeit, a simple yet smart design, logo and mockup tool that almost anyone can use for any kind of business or occasion, making your earning potential even greater.
This does not necessarily mean they will be chosen for sale, but rather they will be selected for Placeit based on what customers are looking for.
If your items have been chosen and published on Placeit, this information will be sent in a monthly Placeit email. Your item may also be edited slightly before being published on Placeit in order to make it viable for Placeit users to customize and interchange graphics, icons, fonts, backgrounds, etc. In some cases lines of text may need to be removed or elements reordered, but no large changes to the file will be made.
If you remove items from Elements that have also been published on Placeit, we will endeavour to remove those items within 30 days.
