It is important to use properly licensed material in your previews. Many authors are looking for ways to comply with the Envato Elements Intellectual Property Requirements while also wanting to maintain a high-quality standard for their item previews. That's where watermarked assets become valuable.
1. What is a watermarked asset?
A watermark on an asset is embedded information used to identify the owner of the asset. Its purpose is to protect the copyright of that item. For example, an image may have a watermarked layer displaying the name of the photographer or a music track may have a sound bite layered over the actual song's tracks. These watermarks are to be removed once the item is properly purchased.
2. Can I use watermarked assets from Envato Market in my Elements item preview?
Yes, you may use watermarked Envato marketplace items without asking permission, so long as the watermarked Envato marketplace item is shown only in the item preview (ie. not contained in the download file), and you credit the Envato marketplace author of the Envato marketplace item and include the title in the text description on the item upload page.
3. What if I want to use an unwatermarked asset in my item previews?
Video on Elements authors can use an unwatermarked version of an AudioJungle track in their preview video, only if they have obtained full permission from the AudioJungle author (that the music item belongs to) and meets the list of requirements outlined in the Audio used in Video Preview Policy.
Video on Elements authors can also use an unwatermarked audio track in their preview video if it is their own original music, or if they have purchased the required license to use the track in this way.
